Buggy Walks

Looking for a new way to volunteer with us?  L Leisure are pleased to offer buggy walks at Attenborough Nature Reserve.

So, what is a buggy walk?

It is a free walk lead by a trained walk leader that is suitable for buggies and pushchairs. The walks follow a flat route and are suitable for all abilities, so whether you are new to exercise or not, there will be a pace to suit you.

Why join us?

It’s a great way to get outside, meet new people and enjoy some gentle exercise. What’s better is there’s no need for the participants to book a babysitter; as they can bring your baby with them and get some exercise.

Where and when?

If you’d like to join us, we meet the participants by the picnic benches near the visitor centre on the second Monday of every month at 10am (excluding bank holidays.) There’s plenty of parking available in the car park and the centre is easily accessible via public transport. The Trent Barton Indigo bus service from Nottingham and Derby city centres or Attenborough train station is just a five minute walk away.

What will I be doing?

A copy of the Volunteer Role Outline can be found here

You may be involved with:

  • Taking a register before the walk
  • Directing the walk at the front
  • Back marking the walk to make sure no one is left behind alone
  • Talking with the parents on the way round – ensuring they are comfortable and not lonely
  • Monitoring the participants throughout the work to make sure they are safe

We look forward to seeing you there.

The participants don’t need to book and can just turn up. If you have any questions or if you want any further information you can give us a call on 0115 9173572 or email getactive@lleisure.co.uk
