The Success of the Kimberley Triathlon

The Success of the Kimberley Triathlon

Swim, Bike, Run

You may have seen or been a part of the Kimberley Triathlon on Sunday 22nd September. 116 competitors across all ages and abilities trained hard over summer for the event that saw first timers and personal bests across the board.

The event

It was a not so bright and early start on a Sunday morning but that did not dampen anyone’s mood. The first competitor arrived at 6am ready and rearing to go! The race started at 7am with the Super Sprint distance shortly followed by the Sprint distance, and off they headed for their pool swim.

The sprint participants had 400m whilst the super sprint 200m. It was then time for a dash out the door running barefoot down to the bike transition, those more sceptical decided to throw on a towel and some flip flops for comfort… wise in my opinion! Down at transition, they popped on their helmets and shoes for a 19k or 7k cycle ride through the scenery around Kimberley and Moorgreen. Ditching the bike for a mad dash to the 5 or 2.5km run; with the adrenaline rush of crossing the finishing line!

Despite a little rain, our competitors crossed the finish line with huge smiles and were then awarded a most deserved colourful medal around their neck.

There was a great mix of competitors with most achieving lifetime milestones of their first ever Triathlon event.

Congratulations to the following Kimberley Triathlon podium place finishers:

Feedback

The amount of recommendations and supportive words we received is overwhelming and we would like to take this platform as a means to share our feedback.

“I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped at yesterday’s event. It was my first triathlon. The marshals were lovely, friendly and supportive. The signage was fantastic, very easy to understand. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends.”

“Many thanks to everyone involved in the setting up and hosting the kimberley triathlon event yesterday. Everything about the day was incredibly well organised and professional. Despite the tricky weather conditions on the cycle, I really enjoyed the whole morning and was really pleased with my time for my first ever sprint triathlon.”

The Get Active team send a big well done to all of the competitors, staff and volunteers for their contributions to making it a great event.
