Seated Exercise Class

Seated Exercise Class

Could you, or someone you know, benefit from a Seated Exercise Class?

Our friendly and supportive Seated Exercise Class is designed to help people stay active, maintain their independence and feel more confident carrying out everyday activities.

What is a Seated Exercise Class?

Our instructor-led Seated Exercise Class is a group exercise session where participants complete a range of exercises while sitting on a chair.

During the class, the instructor will guide participants through exercises that work the arms, legs and whole body, with a focus on:

  • Strengthening the muscles
  • Improving mobility and flexibility
  • Increasing cardiovascular fitness
  • Supporting balance and coordination

Exercises may include marching while seated, resistance exercises and mobility exercises. Equipment such as resistance bands and light weights may also be used.

The exercises are designed to help participants feel more confident and capable when completing everyday activities, such as getting dressed, reaching into cupboards, gardening and shopping.

Exercises can all be completed seated, with some optional standing exercises where appropriate. Adaptations will be provided to enable participants to exercise safely and confidently according to their individual abilities.

Qualified Instruction

The class is led by Kate a qualified Seated Exercise Instructor who also holds a Level 3 Personal Training qualification and is currently undertaking a Level 4 Postural Stability qualification (Evidence based prevention for falls qualification)

This specialist training helps ensure exercises are delivered in a safe, supportive and appropriate way, with adaptations available to suit individual abilities.
