The Duathlon 2019: a run, bike, run affair

The Duathlon 2019: a run, bike, run affair
On Sunday 13th October staff, volunteers and competitors came together at Colliers Wood for the big day.

The event

Despite the rain (lots of it!) it didn’t dampen our spirits! The first competitors arrived at 7am, itching to get started. The Garmin’s were set and off they went. The challenge competitors started with a 4k run whilst the beginners started off with 2k around Colliers Wood Nature Reserve. After that, they headed into transition to grab their bikes for a 15.5km or 8k cycle through Moorgreen before heading back into transition for their last 2k or 1k run.

The competitors crossed the finish line with huge smiles and were awarded a deserved medal around their neck. We saw a great mix of competitors, with many achieving a lifetime milestone of their first ever Duathlon event, whilst others chalked up another event, and some earning themselves a new PB! Most importantly it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves! It was great to see many families sharing the experience together and encouraging the younger generations to take part.

We welcomed a mixture of clubs to the event to share their passion for achieving something amazing, we were delighted to see the purple ladies Notts Womens Runners, 1485 Tri Club, Broxtowe Tri Club and many more friends.
